Standing proudly on Pollepel Island (Bannerman Island), the ruins of Bannerman Castle are a sight to behold. The castle was constructed circa 1900 as a military surplus warehouse. Today, Bannerman Castle is owned by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and is not open to the public.
