This building was built by German settlers for their minister, Peter Nicholas Sommers, who traveled from Hamburg, Germany to Schoharie in 1743. The house is now a living museum offering guided tours of the house and grounds, giving visitors an idea of what colonial life was like.
This site on the National Register of Historic Places features a restored 1891 passenger car, a restored 1917 wooden caboose, two period box cars and the historic Schoharie Valley Railroad Depot.
