The town of Woodstock rose to fame in the late 1960s when thousands of music fans descended upon a farmer's field on the outskirts of town, marking one of the defining moments in American musical and cultural history. What many don't know is this unassuming Catskills community has long been known for its artistic endeavors. The Woodstock Artists's Association hosts a variety of exhibitions and there are a bounty of galleries along the main street along with several respected recital halls, where talented musicians of all stripes perform and hone their craft. In addition, stunning vistas may be found just outside the town, with pristine mountains that blaze brilliantly with autumnal colors.
